Dr. Hal Krenkel PT, DPT

Education

Dr. Krenkel is a 2003 graduate of The University of Michigan where he earned his B.S. in Movement Science in the school of Kinesiology. He later received his Doctorate of Physical Therapy in 2007 from the University of Miami in Coral Gables, Florida, where he graduated with honors.

At Force Physical Therapy

Dr. Krenkel is one of the founding partners at Force Physical Therapy. He specializes in individualized physical therapy treatment plans based on a patient’s specific goals and is an accomplished manual therapist. Dr. Krenkel specializes in rehabilitation of the high-level athlete and is skilled at using these techniques to safely progress clients of all ages and physical abilities.

Dr. Krenkel has a passion for educating future students and serves as the Center Coordinator for Clinical Education (CCCE) for all Force Physical Therapy clinics. At these clinics Force has educated students from University of Miami, Florida International University, New York University, University of Ohio, and many others.

Prior to Force Physical Therapy

Prior to Force Physical Therapy, Dr. Krenkel gained valuable experience at Jackson Memorial Hospital. There, he had the opportunity to work in numerous settings including Orthopedics, Neurological Rehab, and Spinal Cord Injury Rehab. Additionally, he was one of the founding partners of Jaguar Therapeutics, Aventura and Coconut Grove.

Athletic Experience

Dr. Krenkel is an avid Ice Hockey player who remains active with the South Florida Hockey community. While studying in Ann Arbor, he served as the head coach of the U of M women’s ice hockey program from 2000-2003 as the youngest coach in the CCWHA. He led the Wolverines to a CCWHA title and 3 consecutive trips to the ACHA national championship tournament. Additionally, Dr. Krenkel served 2 years as Director of Ice Hockey at Camp All-Star in Augusta, Maine.


Dr. Christopher Ellis PT, DPT, ATC, CSCS

Education

Dr. Ellis is a 2004 graduate of Canisius College, Buffalo, New York where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Athletic Training (ATC). He received his Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) in 2007 from University of Miami in Coral Gables, Florida. He is also a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) sanctioned by the National Strength and Conditioning Association since 2011.

At Force Physical Therapy

Dr. Ellis is one of the founding partners of Force Physical Therapy. He specializes in manual therapy and rehabilitation of the elite athlete and has treated hundreds of professional athletes in South Florida, including NFL, NHL, MLB, NBA, Tennis and Golf athletes. As both an ATC and DPT, Dr. Ellis has a unique experience of working with athletes on the field at the time of injury, as well as off the field directing post-surgical and post-injury rehabilitation. He is a member of the US Olympic Sailing rehab team as a physical therapist and athletic trainer. Additionally, Dr. Ellis is the preferred provider for Bommarito Performance Systems where he oversees rehabilitation programs for professional, collegiate, and high-school athletes. He has been a key member of the rehabilitation team with the hugely successful Bommarito performance NFL combine training program.

Prior to Force Physical Therapy

Prior to Force Physical Therapy, Dr. Ellis gained valuable experience working in multiple out-patient sports medicine clinics. Additionally, he was one of the founding partners of Jaguar Therapeutics, Aventura and Coconut Grove.

Athletic Experience

Dr. Ellis works with many professional, collegiate, and high school athletic teams. He also serves as Director of Medical Operations for Bommarito Performance Systems and the US Sailing Team.


Dr. Luis G. Fernandez PT, DPT

Education

Dr. Fernandez is a 2006 graduate of Florida International University where he earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration (Concentration: Finance). In 2014, he earned his Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Florida International University in Miami, Florida.

Prior to Force Physical Therapy

Prior to Force Physical Therapy, Dr. Fernandez gained valuable experience working at Aventura Hospital and Medical Center. There he had the opportunity to work in various settings including Orthopedics, Neurological Rehab, Acute Care and Trauma Rehab. Additionally, Dr. Fernandez completed a 10-week internship at Force Physical Therapy where he furthered his passion for sports and orthopedic rehab.

Athletic Experience

Dr. Fernandez grew up playing and continues to play competitively numerous sports including flag football, volleyball (beach and indoor), tennis, and basketball. He continues to remain active with the South Florida flag football community.


Dr. Micah Kust PT, DPT, OCS, ATC, CSCS

Education

Dr. Kust is a 2013 graduate of Luther College in Decorah, IA where he earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Athletic Training. He received his Doctorate of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2016. Dr. Kust has also been a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist since 2015. He completed his final two clinical internships at Force Physical Therapy and EXOS in Frisco, TX focusing on sports performance physical therapy.

Areas of Interest

Dr. Kust has a passion for optimizing movement to prevent injury and improve performance. He is a diehard sports fan and has interests in treating all athletes in any sport from recreational to professional. He believes everyone should have the capacity to perform any activity free from pain or dysfunction, and his approach reflects that with a focus placed on movement and strength.

Athletic Experience

Dr. Kust played Division III soccer all four years at Luther College where his team won the Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference title and reached the sweet 16 during the 2012 season. In high school, he was a three sport athlete participating in soccer, basketball and baseball. Currently, he is an avid weightlifter with focus on powerlifting.


Dr. Christopher Guerrero PT, DPT

Education

Dr. Guerrero received his B.S. degree in Sociology from Florida International University in 2012. He went on to earn his Doctorate of Physical Therapy degree from Florida International University in 2018. He is also a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) as well as a Certified Manual Physical Therapist (CMPT).

At Force Physical Therapy

Dr. Guerrero is the lead Physical Therapist of our William’s Island outpatient clinic where he treats older adults within the community who are looking to return to tennis, golf, running, and recreational exercise. Dr. Guerrero is a Certified Manual Physical Therapist, and incorporates manual therapy techniques as part of each rehabilitation process.

Prior to Force Physical Therapy

Dr. Guerrero worked at West Gables Rehabilitation Hospital, where he helped to provide a continuum of care for patients recovering from stroke, traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, and neurological disorders. He was also the Rehab Coordinator for the Nicklaus Children’s Hospital Miami Lakes Outpatient Center.

Athletic Experience

Dr. Guerrero was a walk-on for the Division II football team at University of Charleston. In high school he played football and soccer.


Dr. Michael Jones PT, DPT, ATC, CSCS

Education

Dr. Jones is a 2013 graduate of The University of Central Florida where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Athletic Training. In 2015, he obtained his M.S. in Medical Sciences Concentration in Athletic Training degree from The University of South Florida. He later received his Doctorate of Physical Therapy in 2019 from Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, FL. He is also a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist sanctioned by the National Strength and Conditioning Association since 2017.

Prior to Force Physical Therapy

Prior to Force Physical Therapy, Dr. Jones gained valuable experience as a Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainer for the University of California, Berkeley where he worked with their football, soccer, rugby, and golf programs. He also gained Athletic Training experience with the University of Central Florida Athletics and Hagerty High School. During his DPT education, he completed clinical rotations in the Outpatient Sports and Orthopedic, Inpatient Neurologic, Acute Care Trauma and Neurosurgical ICU settings.

Athletic Experience

Dr. Jones is a hockey player and continues to remain active in the South Florida Hockey community. He played collegiate roller hockey for the University of Central Florida in his sophomore, junior, and senior years where his team reached the D3 National Semifinals in 2011 and 2013. In high school, he also played soccer his sophomore and junior season, having to miss his senior year due to an injury, which is where he found his passion to become a Physical Therapist and to help return patients back to the activities they enjoy.


Dr. Adrianna Ortega PT, DPT

Education

Dr. Adrianna Ortega received her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from the University of Miami in 2019 after completing an accelerated program. She served as one of her class’s representatives for the Marquette Challenge, raising over $25,000 for physical therapy research to continue to move the PT field forward and promote movement as medicine.

Prior to Force Physical Therapy

Prior to Force Physical Therapy, Dr. Ortega gained valuable experience at the Memorial Rehabilitation Institute in Hollywood, FL where she worked with patients with a wide variety of orthopedic and neurological conditions, including joint replacements, amputations, and strokes. Dr. Ortega also worked at Pilates in the Grove in Coconut Grove, FL as a Pilates instructor and physical therapist where she taught private and group Pilates classes to a variety of clients of all ages and athletic abilities.

Areas of Interest

Dr. Ortega continues to utilize the principles of Pilates throughout her physical therapy practice. These principles include control, precision, and breath, which she believes are the keys to healing and unlocking your movement potential. Dr. Ortega also has a passion for working with chronic pain and women’s health, and wishes to pursue continued education in order to help this population.

Athletic Experience

Dr. Ortega grew up competing in a variety of styles of dance and cheerleading for 13 years. Her interest in these sports led her to Pilates, where she ultimately pursued becoming an instructor.


Cristina Gonzalez, Administrative Assistant

Cristina is a 2016 graduate from Florida International University, where she earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education: Sports and Fitness. Cristina plans to further her career by pursuing a Doctorate in Physical Therapy. Growing up she was always involved in competitive soccer and continues to play recreationally in her free time. Cristina completed her final undergraduate internship with Force in 2016 where she developed her passion for physical therapy.
