Dr. Darby Pillow, PT, DPT
Education
Originally raised from Chillicothe, Ohio, Darby graduated from Morehead State University in Morehead, Kentucky where he earned his Bachelor’s degree in exercise science. He went on to earn his Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Ohio University in Athens, OH.
Prior to Force Physical Therapy
During his education at Ohio University, Dr. Pillow participated in multiple outpatient and inpatient clinical experiences leading to a solid foundation of knowledge in various acute and chronic musculoskeletal, neuromuscular, cardiopulmonary conditions. He participated in a 12-week clinical experience through Vanderbilt Home Care services where he gained exposure in managing rehabilitation and overall wellness with patients with more complex neuromuscular, cardiovascular, and musculoskeletal pathologies. Prior to graduation, Dr. Pillow spent his final 16-week clinical rotation at Force Physical Therapy where he was ultimately hired as a full-time physical therapist.
Athletic Experience
Dr. Pillow played football, basketball, soccer, and ran cross country and track throughout high school. Ultimately, he ended up running track and cross country collegiately at the Division 1 level at Morehead State University for 4 years and Ohio University during his first year of physical therapy school. He now enjoys playing all sports recreationally and competing in races from time to time.
Areas of Interest
Dr. Pillow is passionate in all areas of sports and fitness continuing to use current evidence based research to provide quality care relating rehabilitation to sports performance. During physical therapy school, Dr. Pillow developed intensive knowledge in the rehabilitation of sports physical therapy helping implement a neurocognitive ACL injury prevention program for the Women’s basketball team at Ohio University utilizing neurocognitive devices such as Blazepods, virtual reality, and stroboscopic glasses. He continues to gain interest and knowledge in ankle and foot injuries, specifically, due to his history of injuries during his athletic career.
